Lately I have been feeling like a really bad mom. It is a combination of stress, grumpiness and the typical, ever present "mom guilt". I have been formulating this post in my mind for a while now. I find myself saying "yep, you know your a bad mom when..." all week long! So, here are the many, many reasons why I have been a bad mom lately! Enjoy!

You fail to blog and brag about your oldest daughter's first day of preschool - especially after you made her sit *forever* while doing her hair.
Then you make her pose for a million pictures, even with her baby sister.
You know you're a bad mom when you have your kiddo start training shortly after her first birthday.
And encourage the timid child to live on the wild side.
You actually allow your child to dress herself like this...and go out in public.
You know you're a bad mom when you opt out on the fishing tournament adventure with the oldest.
But strongly encourage her to strike another pose.
Then make the baby give you a nice snuggle when you're sweaty and stinky.
You are a super bad mom when you nearly drop the baby during a photo at the museum.
And then fail to document a super awesome trip with our fav visitors (I promise, it will come soon)!
Bad moms also make their kiddos eat their popsicles in the corner (so the baby won't see and get jealous).
Then put twinkle toe shoes on naked babies just for kicks.
I guess I failed on the fashion front multiple times recently.
Bad moms make their kids sit in the cupboard (Harry Potter?!?).
And take a bazillion pictures for no reason.
And continue to encourage the modeling.
Bad moms make others touch all of the slime inside the pumpkins.
And get super excited when the baby learns to love Baby Einstein.
Bad moms let their kids *take care of themselves* so they can catch a few extra zzzz's. (This is one of Alexandra's favorite things to do!)
They also let little girls sleep on top of the covers on cold nights so the bed doesn't have to be made again in the morning.
And there is a place for all of her *kids* to be put to bed.
Bad moms don't mind when nanas and papas spoil the kids rotten and let them indulge after dinner.
They let their homes look like this...*almost* all of the time.
They let their 4 year olds play with the camera to document their day.
Bad moms teach their baby girls the importance of carrying a fashionable handbag.
Then chuckle behind the camera at the crazy hair she inherited.
And laugh again as she tries to waddle around in her sister's 5 sizes too big shoes (while in camo puppy dog jammies...torture I know!).
Bad moms don't have total breakdowns when their homes look like a fashion bomb went off.
And lastly, bad moms who are playing the evil step mother (or step mudder as Ali would say) make Cinderella rub their feet before she can go to the ball.
Yes, I am a bad mom by these terms, the proof is in the pictures. I am trying to overcome my anxiety about it all - I am sure it will come. But for now my life is pretty much defined by these moments and I am working to laugh at and enjoy each of them.

Wow, Kelsey - I want to be a bad mom like you! You are functional, and that in itself is pretty impressive.
I think all of the things you just said made you a better mom than you already were.
You crack me up sista. Get your booty back into the blogging world. You will regret it someday that you didn't do it! You know I am right. I am always right :) haahahah
Not a bad mom a normal good mom! I have been formulating a post in my mind called spineless parenting. I find myself sometimes avoiding situations so I don't have to deal with whining or grumpy children- spineless that is me! You are great!
And why do we beat ourselves up for being bad mothers? I don't know, but when you listed all those amazing moments we have as Mothers, there's absolutely no reason why. If the Lord is pleased with what we are doing as Mothers, why should we let the adversary tell us otherwise. I am also in the process of learning to find joy in the moments where total chaos abounds and not think that... When---happens, then I'll be happy. I may take me a life time, but I'll get there. Thank you for inspiring me Kelsey, reading this made my Day.
you rock and you know it. you are a fantastic mom and ali and sophie are the great girls they are because of you!
