The List

I have a list...it is on my bathroom mirror.  It is the only way I can get things done.  I write all of the things I need to accomplish and receive immense pleasure from tearing off a square of toilet paper and erasing a completed task (its written in dry erase marker).
But in reality the bathroom often gets cleaned and my list is completely erased in the process...so not only am erasing "clean bathroom" but all other undone tasks...sweet huh?
The reality is that I will never get through the list.
Because I have two monkeys...who are happy if you give them one sucker...but ecstatic if they can steal another and not have it taken away.
I've decided that Sophi is determined to taste the world and I spend a good deal of energy trying to thwart her efforts.
Grandpa Ernie has turned Alexandra into a safety nerd but she's still cute so I don't have to work *too* hard on fixing her quite yet.
I love this picture because it makes me a little sick looking at...it really depicts that Sophi is ALWAYS in motion.
And hugging dolphins...I mean who wouldn't?
We spend lots of time reading (and tearing up) books.  Thanks Nana Rabner for sending loads of new options that are reinforced!  Do they make steel books as the board books just don't cut it around here.
Last week when the weather turned beautiful we spent an afternoon outside then turned it into a late night and I knew it needed to end with ice cream.
Yes, Heavenly Father sends us beautiful babies with crazy tendencies so we still love them at the end of the day.  Perhaps this is why I really doll the girls up...it is extra hard to get mad when they look so cute.  Although, it is easy to get upset when Sophi yanks out her hair ties and bows the moment she gets into the car...which is often 5 minutes after I spent 15 minutes getting them in there.
Yes...the gorgeous weather is a bane to my lovely little list.  Bikes, the park, pushing each other in the car (Sophi is so strong - she can push double her weight!), runs with the double stroller, reading in the sun and grilling up something yummy are just too important.
Yes, sweeping my basement stairs, wiping out the kitchen cupboards, cleaning the bathrooms and making appointments are important to our home (in the long, long scheme of things!) But my days seem to be filled with countless other endeavors.  Mostly I enjoy the craziness but you all know that being a stay at home mom can be an endless, monotonous business, but we love it...don't we?  At the end of the day, I always do.  Its the middle that's a bit sketchy!

a very well put summary of the life of a mother. I am grateful for my lists though-written and unwritten- temporal and eternal in nature.

I finally sat down today and looked at my list again. They are far over-rated. At least not feeling great had one perk, I was a spectator in my home and it made it very clear to me what was important and what could and should wait for another day.

Yeah for sunny nice weather and being outside. I am with you on trying to be a better mommy and have more fun special moments with Tiny and stress less over the house, blog, and million other things I always think I should be doing instead of enjoying my sweet little man. Loves. Your girls are too cute and crazy!!! Love them!
