Every Day Life

I have found that I tend to blog only, or should I say mostly, when we have big events in our lives.  What I am learning is that the best parts are frequently forgotten because they are small and occur during the moments.  So here is my life...
This is a relatively common sight in our home.
Our sweet Sophi girl is getting so big and I just can't believe she is 5.5 months.
The first Sunday of the month Ali had a cough and bit of a fever so I stayed home with the girls.  We were having a pj and movie day in my bed.  I set Sophi against a pillow and was heading to the bathroom when I heard her screaming.  She propelled herself off of the bed and into the desk.  When I first grabbed her I thought she hit her forehead and didn't see any blood so I felt momentary relief...until I noticed her bleeding eye.  I am usually not *too* dramatic, but seeing blood coming from my child has a wild affect on me.
It really was just a small cut and she was smiling again moments later. Ali insisted on putting a princess band aid on Sophi - it turned out that removing the band aid was worse than initial injury.

Ali is really enjoying her ballet lessons.  She focuses very hard and improves each class.

And since we are being real, here is my reality - playing princess/Barbies.  No, I usually don't shower until later in the day...don't judge me!  Ali thought it would be really fun to take pictures with the princesses.
Oh how I love her cheesy smile!
One of Alexandra's new favorite things is to have popcorn with "salted" while watching a movie.  The funniest part is that she licks her finger and rubs it around on the bottom of the bowl to collect as much salt as possible and then she eats it.  I laugh at this because I started doing the same thing as kid.
We haven't had much snow and we received a little skiff one morning.  Alexandra was really excited about it and got herself all dressed to go out and play in it.  The best part was that she couldn't find her gloves so she grabbed a pair of socks and said "they're a kinda gloves".  Yes, she is very resourceful.
For about a week Alexandra insisted on sleeping in her tent.  This thing is pretty small and she would have to curl up in a little ball to fit in.  One night she ended up halfway outside of the tent.

Alis is finishing up her gymnastics.  She has done so well and really enjoys it.
I am trying to do more fun things with Ali so we tried pudding paint one day.  Alexandra has never liked getting dirty and this put her completely out of her comfort zone.  She kept asking for a napkin and wanting to wash her hands.  I made her stick it out for a good 10 minutes :)
While in the bumbo on the table Sophi discovered a love for chip bags.  It is amazing how one day she will just start doing something out of nowhere.
We had a good sized snow storm last week and Anthony stayed home from work.  We had a blast running circles around our house playing tag, hide and seek and making snow angels.
Alexandra loves to throw snow balls but this was too fluffy to stick together so we just kicked it at each other instead.  One of my favorite winter past times is shoveling snow, I really enjoy it!
Speaking of growing and changing, Sophi began rolling over a couple of days before Christmas and sitting on her own last week.  She also had her first two teeth come through the first week of January.  Tonight she sat and played with her toys all by herself for almost 45 minutes.  She is an incredibly happy baby and continues to bring joy into our lives every day.  My nickname for her is Squish because I just love to hug and squish her.
And last but surely not least - our home is filled with lots and lots of hugs and loves all day long.  Ali and Sophi love each other so much.  I am so grateful that Ali enjoys her sister.  She is such a great helper and I love watching their relationship grow.

Every Ali story cracks me up because she is just like YOU! I think it is super cute. I also LOVE how you always call to tell me your favorite Ali quote or thing that happened that day. They are such fun stories and I am the luckiest auntie to be so involved with my sweet nieces lives. Thanks for giving me this opportunity.
