Museum of Science and Industry

This turned out to be a fantastic week! I received a job offer to work at RWI, the insurance agency I worked with 3 years ago. I am really excited to go back to work, but sad too as I won't be able to spend all day with Alexandra.

As the weather turned out to be completely atrocious this week, a combination of -30 F degree weather and snow, the Boo and I were both extremely restless. The Museum of Science and Industry is free every day in January and I determined a few weeks ago to go. Knowing that my weekdays of freedom were few, I asked Wendi if she wanted to go down with me on Friday. She agreed to brave the trip and we had a wonderful time. I am always surprised by the crazy traffic in Chicago (it took us 2.5 hrs...after "rush hour" and traffic already started when we left at 2 pm). The girls were all really good and had fun being out of the house.

Alexandra's favorite exhibit was the Idea Center.
It's like the water exhibit at the children's museum. They have a bunch of balls floating down a water attraction and she would take them out and put them in an air tube. She was very determined to get as many balls into the tube as possible. She also enjoyed watching the chicks hatch and playing in the life size John Deere tractor.

I am really excited to go again with my family when they come in April and July. Joey will LOVE the train exhibit. I took lots of good pictures to get him excited.

The other exciting thing we did this week was buy panties for Alexandra. We are really trying to work on potty training now that she will be in day care. She preferred wearing the underwear on her head and on top of her pants to on her actual bare bottom.

We are trying not to push her too much, but think we can do it by her 2nd birthday (which only 2 months away...can you believe it!?!?!)

This last picture is Ali in a super cute dress my Mom made. Thanks MOM! Well, I'm not sure when I will get back to blogging, life is going to be significantly more hectic. We love you all!

Sounds like a fun trip into the city. We love to go to the children's museum near us. Jonas' favorites are the real semi-truck, water stuff and the air shoot he sends scraves up it. Congrats on the job. Good luck with the potty training. I'm afraid for our day with Jonas, but he isn't even close to ready so I've still got some time.
