Alexandra's First Day of School

Alexandra started preschool this past Tuesday. She put her in the program through the Gurnee Park District. She goes twice a week for 2.5 hours. I have been very pleased with the program and the teachers so far. Here is Ali on her first day. She was so excited to start school.

I can't figure out why her starting school makes me a little sad. I guess it is the realization that she truly is growing up and next thing I know it will be her first day of high school.

And of course she had to show off her awesome funny face.

When we got into her classroom she was so excited that she went straight for the activity table and forgot to take off her backpack and say goodbye. I finally gained her attention long enough to show her where her cubby is and get a quick kiss and wave goodbye.

I was clearly more broken up over the situation than she was. I lingered just outside the door for a minute and tried to capture her excitement for a new adventure from a distance.

When we got home from school her new backpack had just arrived and she had to show it off.

Here she is ready to head out the door on day 2. I know that preschool is the best thing for Alexandra right now. She loves flexing her independent muscles and learn new things. This program gives her just that opportunity. I love seeing the expression of the new skills she learns at school. We are so excited for all of the new things to come.
