It has taken a while (I know, I am slow) but over the past year I have come to a better understanding of just HOW LUCKY I am to be part of the Booth family. Anthony and I have lived within 15 minutes of his parents (Pat and Ernie) for the past 2.5 years. Ever since we moved back here they have been kind, helpful, thoughtful, loving and giving. They were all of these things when we lived in Utah, but it is much easier when we live in the same state.
I was contemplating the other day just how much I rely on them. I have always been an incredibly independent person and do not like to admit weakness or a need for help. I have learned that Pat and Ernie love Alexandra, Sophi, Anthony and me so much that they don't judge me (as I always worry) and will drop anything at any time to help us.
Not only do we have Anthony's parents and brother close by, we also have his Aunt Linda, Mike, Stephanie, Hayden, Mackenzie and Jermiah. It is so nice have big family gatherings for the holidays and birthdays.
My car needed to go to the shop this week and Ernie offered to pick it up from my house and take it to the shop, then take Ali to preschool and pick her up her the following day and pick the car up from the shop and bring it back to me so I wouldn't have to try to juggle the girls around. I was overcome with gratitude for this service. He also took Ali out for a fun day on Friday while Wendi and decorated the cake and I did the last minute shopping for the party.
I am truly grateful that they both adore our girls and love to spend time with them. They went out of town for a few weeks and came over to play 4 days in a row as soon as they came back in town. I am learning the the love they have for us and the love my parents have for us is special. Not all parents/grandparents want to spend their spare time and vacations with their kids/grandkids. We have been so blessed by wonderful families and I hope I do a good enough job of expressing my love and appreciation.

Yes you are super lucky to live so close to your inlaws. Someday I hope to live near family. Someday.
